High Voltage Project Manager

Summary The HV Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and closing highâvoltage electrical projects, with a primary focus on substation and transmissionârelated work. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contractual, regulatory, and PGS quality requirements. The HV Project Manager serves as the primary point of coordination between engineering, procurement, construction, and the client to achieve successful project outcomes. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Plan, manage, and execute highâvoltage electrical projects, including substation construction, upgrades, and transmissionârelated scopes, from project award through closeout. Manage client and project expectations through proactive communication, issue resolution, and alignment on scope, schedule, and commercial objectives. Ensure all project activities are performed in compliance with OSHA, NFPA, applicable state and local codes, and PGS safety policies and procedures. Develop and manage Project Execution Plan (PEP), project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and cost controls to ensure projects are delivered on time and within approved financial targets. Lead and coordinate directly with engineering, procurement, construction, subcontractors, and field personnel to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, quality, and safety expectations. Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure all companyâprocured materials are ordered, tracked, and delivered to site in alignment with project schedules. Work with procurement to identify, negotiate, and execute purchase orders for longâlead substation and highâvoltage equipment, including review and approval of associated invoices. Support procurement in identifying and soliciting subcontracting partners, conducting preâbid meetings, and facilitating subcontractor onboarding and training sessions. Serve as the primary interface with permitting authorities, maintaining professional relationships and ensuring ongoing compliance with permit conditions and mitigation requirements. Administer project prime and subcontractor contracts, including scope definition, change management, progress tracking, and documentation, escalating commercial or contractual risks as needed. Monitor project performance metrics and prepare accurate internal and clientâfacing reports on schedule, cost, risk, and progress. Serve as the primary dayâtoâday point of contact for clients, maintaining professional relationships and proactively addressing issues to support customer satisfaction. Support estimating, proposal development, and project handoff activities by providing fieldâinformed input on scope, sequencing, risks, and execution strategies. Ensure project closeout activities are completed, including punch list completion, demobilization activities, documentation, financial reconciliation, lessons learned, and client acceptance. Education and/or Work Experience Requirements Required Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, business, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience delivering highâvoltage electrical projects. Requires of 5+ years of experience supporting or managing highâvoltage electrical projects, including substation and/or transmissionârelated work. Familiarity with HV substation construction, commissioning, testing, or turnover processes. Experience dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors, and/or self-perform work. Demonstrated experience managing project schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and crossâfunctional execution teams. Strong working knowledge of electrical safety practices, construction sequencing, and project controls. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams, for project communication, reporting, and coordination. Working knowledge of Primavera P6 for development, maintenance, and progress tracking of project schedules. Preferred Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification. Experience using enterprise project and cost management systems such as Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Viewpoint Team (or equivalent platforms). Experience working in an EPC, utilityâfacing, or highâvoltage construction environment. Physical Requirements / Work Environment This position is based in the Durham, NC office and is not a remote role. The HV Project Manager is expected to work onâsite at the Durham office with regular inâperson collaboration and travel to project sites as required to support project execution. Combination of office and fieldâbased work, including active construction and substation environments. Ability to travel occasionally to project sites, including remote locations. Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods as required by project activities. Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, and navigate uneven terrain in construction environments.
