Schedule: 3x12 hour shifts, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM; every other weekend required

Highlights:

• Specialty unit caring for patients receiving and recovering from chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments
• Chemotherapy certification provided - ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Administration (certification cost covered; can be completed before or during assignment)
• Contract lengths of 13-26 weeks available
• Patient ratio of 1:6; EMR system is Epic with Pyxis medication management
• 24-hour orientation with comprehensive onsite training and support from experienced oncology team
• Access to free oncology education courses eligible for continuing education units (CEUs)

Requirements:

• Active North Carolina or Compact State RN license
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience in an inpatient setting
• ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred or willingness to obtain prior to/during assignment
• Must pass EKG testing and complete dysrhythmia interpretation assessment prior to start
• Experience with med/surg care, accessing ports, blood product administration, central and peripheral line management, PICC lines, and wound care
• Ability to float to similar units and alternate care locations including emergency department inpatient holding areas
• Willingness to participate in storm team/hurricane team assignments and respond during catastrophic events if required
• Must be available for call coverage if called off on a pre-scheduled shift
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

Additional Details:

• Patient population includes general medical-surgical diagnoses with oncology focus including sepsis, acute kidney injury, diabetic complications, pain management, and malignant neoplasms
• Heparin and insulin drip experience required
• Competency with chest tubes, surgical drains, wound vacs, and isolation precautions necessary
• Attendance at monthly staff meetings required
• Navy blue and white scrubs required
• Pre-approved time off available (up to 7 days; no RTO during first week or major holidays)
• Approximately 8-10 hours of pre-start online modules required (non-billable)
