Staff Accountant

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid – 3 days/week in Times Square office) Employment Type: Long-term Temp Pay Rate: $50–$55/hour Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team in New York City. This role is primarily focused on Accounts Receivable and Credit Management while also supporting Accounts Payable and month-end close activities for the Latin America business. The ideal candidate has strong collections experience, excellent customer service skills, and enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who is comfortable managing customer accounts, resolving payment issues, and partnering with cross-functional teams to improve cash flow and financial operations. Responsibilities Manage the full accounts receivable and credit management process for assigned customer accounts. Monitor outstanding balances and proactively collect overdue payments while maintaining strong customer relationships. Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies by partnering with internal departments to ensure timely collections. Perform outbound collection calls and communicate with customers regarding payment status and direct debit activity. Process cash applications for ACH payments and checks. Review and resolve customer deductions, claims, and pricing discrepancies. Partner with Sales, Operations, and Pricing teams to resolve billing and collection issues. Monitor customer credit limits and escalation potential risks as needed. Maintain accurate customer records and billing contact information. Prepare monthly cash collection reporting, DSO reporting, customer account summaries, and other AR-related reporting. Support month-end close activities by preparing journal entries, reconciliations, rollforwards, and intercompany statements. Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies and ensure accurate reporting. Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency within accounts receivable operations. Assist with additional accounting and finance projects as assigned. Qualifications Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Experience in Accounts Receivable, Credit & Collections, Accounting, or a related finance role. Experience managing collections and customer account reconciliation. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Experience working with SAP. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer-focused approach. Ability to collaborate effectively across finance, sales, operations, and customer service teams. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Experience supporting month-end close activities. Accounts Payable experience. Spanish language skills are a plus but not required. Experience supporting Latin American business operations is a plus. Fine print This is a W2 position.
