Minimum 6 months Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a meaningful impact as an Intervener working 1:1 with a first-grade student who is deafblind for the 2026-2027 school year. Based near Vista, CA, this full-time contract position offers the chance to develop lasting connections with students, support their educational journey, and foster inclusion in the classroom. You’ll collaborate with a dedicated school team and utilize specialized skills to empower your student in a nurturing environment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Paraprofessional, Intervener, or Sign Language Interpreter in a school setting
- Intervener Certificate from an accredited university (required)
- Strong fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Comfort working directly with pediatric populations, especially in individualized (1:1) roles
- Ability to implement modifications, support communication, and adapt materials for a student who is deafblind
- Compassion, patience, and a collaborative spirit are essential
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent, individualized educational and social support for a first-grade student with deafblindness
- Facilitate communication between the student, peers, and staff using sign language and other appropriate modalities
- Assist the student in engaging fully in classroom and school activities
- Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure continuity of care and learning goals
- Continuously monitor progress, note milestones, and contribute to individualized education planning
- Create a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment that addresses sensory and communication needs
