NURSE INSTRUCTOR, CORRECTIONAL FACILITY

Job Summary Under the supervision of the Chief Nurse Executive or Director of Nursing, the Nurse Instructor (NI) is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, assessing, and evaluating training, educational and competency programs for all nursing personnel in compliance with Incarcerated Medical Services Policies and Procedures, MHSDS Program Guide, and the various levels of nursing licensure. The NI also collaborates with management and other healthcare providers to address ongoing training needs, facilitates orientation programs for new employees, and promotes efficient, appropriate, and cost‑effective use of healthcare resources. Responsibilities Develop and deliver training materials and instructional strategies for adult learners. Assess training needs and evaluate program effectiveness. Coordinate orientation for new nursing staff. Ensure compliance with nursing protocols, policies, procedures, and scopes of practice. Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize patient care delivery. Qualifications Registered Nurse license in California. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field. Either: (a) valid California teaching credential in vocational trade and technical teaching or equivalent; or (b) two years as RN in teaching or staff development; or (c) one year RN experience with a Master’s degree in Nursing. Experience with adult learning principles and nursing curriculum development. Salary $9,950.00 – $12,457.00 per month (minimum salary for classification).
