We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Director of Finance to join our dynamic team. Position Overview: As the Director of Finance, you will play a crucial role in managing the accounting team and the financial aspects of our multifamily properties. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and collaborating with various departments to support overall business objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in real estate accounting, excellent analytical skills, have experience with the Yardi Voyager Property Management Systems, HUD billing and compliance issues, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results. Key Responsibilities: Accounting Team Supervision and Leadership Supervise and manage the accounting team to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of all financial deliverables. Lead and mentor the accounting team. Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback. Financial Management Oversee the financial operations of our multifamily properties. Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Financial Reporting: Assist/oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties. Analyze financial data to ensure accuracy and provide insights into property performance. General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts related to property operations. Record and review journal entries to ensure accurate financial records. Completing Year End Adjustment to ensure the books are ready for each assigned client audit. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of property budgets and forecasts. Monitor actual performance against budgeted figures and provide variance analysis. Accounts Payable and Receivable: Oversee accounts payable processes, including invoice processing and payment approvals. Manage accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely rent collection and lease compliance. HUD Billing and Compliance: Coordinate with properties to ensure compliance issues are addressed so that a monthly Section 8 bill can be submitted. Submitting, posting and recording the HUD deposit into the Yardi Accounting system. Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting principles, industry regulations, and company policies. Assist in the preparation for audits and respond to auditor inquiries. Collaboration: Work closely with property management teams to address financial queries and provide support. Collaborate with other departments to improve overall financial processes. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, ideally in accounting, finance, or a related field. MBA/CPA a plus. 5+ years of experience in senior property accounting or similar roles Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and real estate accounting standards Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office/Excel Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
