Vice Chief for Clinical Affairs

The client seeks an inaugural Vice Chief for Clinical Affairs (VCCA) to provide strategic and operational leadership for hematology-oncology inpatient and ambulatory clinical programs during a period of clinical growth and system transformation. The VCCA will serve as a key partner to the division’s leadership and work closely with clinical and health system stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and accessible care within a highly matrixed academic medical environment. Responsibilities include leading the division’s agenda for quality, safety, access, and patient experience; supporting disease-group and service-line clinical leadership; and reducing operational variation across inpatient and ambulatory settings. The VCCA will collaborate with departmental and cancer center leaders to advance strategic clinical growth through new program development, care model redesign, and recruitment aligned with institutional priorities, with an emphasis on aligning clinical operations across academic and regional sites to promote consistent access, quality, and patient experience. The successful candidate will be a physician with an MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent clinical doctorate, be board certified in hematology and/or medical oncology, and be eligible for licensure in the relevant state. Demonstrated experience leading complex clinical operations in an academic medical center is expected, along with a collaborative leadership style, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement, professionalism, compassionate care, mentorship, retention, and effective workforce coverage.
