Position Summary :

The Accounting Clerk supports the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions by processing financial transactions and providing responsive customer service to internal and external stakeholders. This position is responsible for processing staff advances, travel reimbursements, credit card statements, expense vouchers, customer invoices, cash receipts, and Nimble AMS transactions.

This position requires one day a week commuting to the office College Park, Maryland office.

Responsibilities:

• Process staff advances, travel reimbursements, credit card statements and expense vouchers.

• Help with credit card statement reconciliation.

• Assist with weekly payment run and follow up with signatures and back up documentation for filing.

• Maintain vendor files.

• Assist with preparation of 1099s including updates to contractor data.

• Create and process customer invoices and record cash receipts accurately within the ERP system and Association Management System (AMS).

• Process and manage Nimble AMS batches for staff.

• Reconcile and balance cash account. 

• Manage the Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable inbox by responding to vendor inquiries, customer and internal inquiries, researching account issues, and providing timely resolution to billing and payment-related questions.

• Other duties as assigned.

Education:

• Minimum High School diploma or equivalent required. 

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in an accounts payable/accounts receivable environment.
• Knowledge of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles).
• General knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, especially Sage Intacct.
• Strong organization, documentation, and prioritization skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to adapt to quickly changing schedules.
• Ability to work well with interdepartmental teams as well as independently.

Travel: The position requires up to 10% business travel annually to attend meetings and events as directed by supervisor; as well as additional travel as assigned. 

Salary:

The salary range for this position takes into account various factors influencing compensation decisions, such as skill sets, experience, training, and other business and organizational requirements. The salary listed within the specified ranges considers relevant experience. Our compensation philosophy at APS aims to maintain salaries at the midpoint of the market. As a result, we typically hire within the target starting range. Exceptional, rare cases may merit reviews above target starting range for specialized or niche skills aligned with strategic operational goals.

Hiring range : $51,291/year - $69,883/year (USD)

Target range: $51,291/year - $57,060/year (USD)

Work Environment:

As noted above, APS offers a “Remote First” workplace. Although our offices are located on Long Island, NY; Washington DC; and College Park, MD, you can work from other places in the United States. We are flexible about work hours, but expect responsiveness during the core of the workday, Eastern Time.
