RN Coordinator - Ventricular Assist Device, Heart Transplant

Job Overview This job handles pre‑implant, post‑implant, and/or inpatient mechanical circulatory support. It acts as a patient advocate and educator, promoting optimum patient independence, self‑care, and rehabilitation. The role is an integral member of the mechanical circulatory support/transplant team, assisting transplant physicians by independently monitoring selected patients, managing outpatient clinics, and periodically reviewing all patients with physicians. Care is provided to individuals of all age groups. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Required). Bachelor’s degree in nursing (Preferred). Work Experience 3 years of related experience with an associate degree in nursing (Required). 2 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree in nursing (Preferred). Certifications Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice (Required). Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association. Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association. Certification in a clinical specialty area (Preferred). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Proficiency in using computers, software, and web‑based applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process. Strong leadership skills. Ability to travel between facilities and work on call 24/7. Job Duties Performs pre/post implant clinical activities. Educates patients on procedures. Educates nursing staff/colleagues. Participates in activities for professional growth. Ensures compliance and participates in quality initiatives. Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy, method of introduction, and communication style. Performs other duties as assigned.
