Communications Officer

COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER – School of Engineering, Hood Pediatric Innovation Hub Lead the strategic development, implementation, and management of all communications. Enhance visibility and engage audiences for both initiatives through dynamic content creation, digital strategy, media outreach, marketing campaigns, and collaborative storytelling. Drive the development and execution of comprehensive communications plans while building strong connections across MIT and beyond. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, or a similar field. Minimum of five years of professional communications experience in higher education, research institutions, journalism, public relations, or marketing. Experience planning and implementing communications strategies. Strong written and verbal communication, editing, and presentation skills. Experience with print and digital communication, user interface trends, and web design best practices. Ability to translate complex technical ideas into clear language (experience in science journalism a plus). Independent and collaborative team player who builds productive relationships with faculty, staff, and external audiences. Experience with social media content creation, monitoring, metrics, and reporting. Discretion with confidential information. Demonstrated design skills and proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite and modern tools. Experience using HTML and CMS. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree.
