Pipefitter II

Coordinate, layout, fit up, install, assemble, and/or repair commercial piping systems including fixtures and equipment for piping systems. Perform field fabrication of piping systems and set up the specific task or project schedule. Sweat, braze, and weld copper systems. Install hangars or supports for piping systems. Make adjustments to work sequences to meet construction schedules, using own knowledge of equipment and lower-level personnel capacities. Manage materials to ensure timely completion of the work scheduled. Ensure optimal material consumption. Read blueprints and interpret specifications. Correct punch-list items and make distribution as required. Plan work to make the most efficient use of assigned manpower and other resources. Inspect work-in-progress and completed work to ensure conformance to contract and specification. Ensure the needs of general contractors, owners, and other customers as well as entrusted employees are met. Keep the superintendent or project manager aware of all issues affecting production and schedule. Assist project manager and superintendents with problems or questions in an accurate and timely manner. Attend, as required, all jobsite and office meetings related to assigned projects. Serve as a coach and mentor to lower echelon to help them develop and improve their skills and increase their technical knowledge. Strengthen skills to encourage improvement in other pipefitters. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Experience/Qualifications Required:
• 5+ years commercial experience in pipefitting/welding in field plumbing operations.
• Prior shop experience a plus.
• Completion of Apprenticeship program preferred.
• Stable work history.
• Job Skills:
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Knowledge of plumbing and piping installation.
• Ability to fabricate offsets.
• Working knowledge of all hand and power tools.
• Able to do take-offs.
• Able to install equipment.
• Works within precise limits or standards of accuracy and productivity.
• Good math skills.
• Education:
• High School or GED Equivalent.
• Trade School a plus.
• Minimum of 150 hours in pipe welding courses.
• Willing to obtain additional trade licenses and/or certifications.
• Physical Requirements:
• Eyesight correctable to 20/50.
• Able to work long hours on feet.
• Able to lift and climb ladders and scaffolds.
• Able to perform shift work.
• Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 60lbs.
• Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Must not be afraid of heights.
• Special Requirements:
• Valid Driver's License.
• Must provide own basic hand tools.
• Able to operate heavy machinery.
• Journeyman's license if required.
• OSHA 10 certificate.
