COMMUNITY ASSOCIATE

The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is the nation’s largest public housing authority, with an operating budget of $4.4 billion and over 12,000 employees who manage and maintain 274 Section 9 developments that house about 330,000 residents in over 161,000 apartments. NYCHA also operates the country’s largest Section8 program, which provides rental assistance to about 200,000 additional people. Responsibilities Provide and improve community services by performing liaison functions, including improving communication between city agencies, community organizations, and the individuals they represent and serve. Perform difficult and responsible clerical operations. Perform daily data entry tasks in Maximo. Prepare and maintain records, written reports, daily and monthly statistics. Respond to vendors’ questions, help with daily issues, and provide guidance on problems that might arise. Provide administrative support to the unit as appropriate; coordinate meeting schedules and other related tasks as needed. Minimum Qualifications High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community‑centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or Education and/or experience that is equivalent to the above. Preferred Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Knowledge of MS Office—Excel, Word, Access— and Maximo. Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams. Ability to analyze significant amounts of information and identify the most important issues. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and successfully carry out multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
