Position Overview


SCI is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Contract Specialist to support the preparation, review, execution, modification, and closeout of contractual agreements. The Contract Specialist will use current research, customer requirements, and knowledge of company capabilities to develop contracts that accurately reflect customer needs and company obligations.


This position will work closely with the Proposal Development Department to conduct research and assist with developing cost models, requirement traceability documents, Bases of Estimates (BOEs), and subcontract support documentation.

Essential Job Functions

• The Contract Specialist will be responsible for a variety of contract administration and support activities, including but not limited to:
• Prepare contractual agreements based on current customer requirements and the company's capabilities and business needs.
• Ensure contractual language is legally binding and appropriately incorporates customer-provided contract flow-down requirements.
• Review contracts, modifications, terms, and conditions to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable federal and state
• regulations.
• Assist with contract execution and closeout by coordinating with business units throughout the company.
• Complete contract review worksheets and addendum worksheets for base contracts and contract modifications.
• Monitor contract schedules and milestones to ensure requirements and modifications are submitted in a timely manner.
• Clearly explain contract terminology, requirements, and obligations to clients, employees, and other interested parties using clear, easy-to-
• understand language.
• Proofread, edit, and fact-check contracts and other legal or business documents for accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
• Research applicable laws, regulations, and contractual requirements to help ensure contracts remain current and compliant.
• Assist with the review of contracts, amendments, and other legal or contractual documents.
• Develop and support effective procurement proposals.
• Work with the Proposal Development Department to conduct research and develop cost models, Bases of Estimates, requirement
• traceability documents, and subcontract support documentation.
• Assist with contract modification processing and ensure required documentation is completed accurately.
• Assist with contract closeout activities and documentation.
• Maintain organized and accurate contract files and supporting documentation.
• Perform other contract-related duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• College degree preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a legal, contracts, procurement, or related position.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to interpret and explain contractual terms and requirements.
• Ability to research regulations and contractual requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business software.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with government contracts, procurement, or federal contracting.
• Knowledge of federal and state contracting regulations.
• Experience reviewing contractual terms, flow-down requirements, and modifications.
• Experience supporting proposal development and cost proposal preparation.
• Familiarity with Bases of Estimates, requirement traceability, and subcontract documentation.
• Physical & Work Environment Requirements

This position may require working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. Employees may be required to walk, stand, and move


throughout the facility during the workday.

Physical requirements may include, but are not limited to:

• Occasionally to frequently lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Bending, stretching, lifting, stooping, turning, and twisting.
• Pushing and pulling.
• Raising arms above the shoulders and head.
• Standing for extended periods.
• Working in enclosed areas.
• Climbing stairs or ladders.
• Operating or working around heavy equipment.
• Maintaining productive and professional communication with coworkers and other personnel.

The work environment may include varying noise levels, generally ranging from low to moderate. Employees may be required to work in hot


and/or cold temperatures and in dusty environments.

Depending on job duties and work conditions, employees may be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including:

• Safety glasses
• Safety gloves
• Hearing protection
• Respirator or dust mask
• Protective footwear
• Protective clothing or uniforms

The position may require work during non-standard hours, including nights and weekends, as business needs dictate. Overtime may


occasionally be required.
