Maintenance Technician I

The Role We are seeking a Maintenance Technician I to perform daily startup of material handling equipment, inspect conveyors and sorters, report problems, perform basic service on equipment, lubricate moving parts, reposition photo eyes, change batteries in powered lift equipment, maintain batteries, perform basic plumbing, basic carpentry, assist with electrical troubleshooting and preventive maintenance, maintain a safe working environment, clean maintenance areas and lift equipment, and replace light bulbs throughout the facility. What You’ll Do Perform and complete work assigned to the individual; the individual does not assign work to others. Perform many routine tasks independently, but also work as part of a team on some projects and tasks. Follow guidelines on whether to repair or report equipment problems. Use all hand tools, power tools, test equipment, a 2‑way radio, and operate powered lift equipment and vehicles. Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team for the facility. Perform all other tasks as may be assigned. Who You Are Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge and abilities. Displays a team‑player attitude. Can organize tasks and be detail oriented. Can work under pressure while maintaining a positive and professional attitude. Can communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization. Can stand or walk for extended periods of time; can bend, stoop, and climb ladders. Must possess a valid state driver’s license. Flexible to work overtime and Saturdays as needed. What You’ve Done 1 year of maintenance experience OR completed at least half of an accredited technical program or course study and is willing to complete the remainder within 2 years from the date of hire. Physical Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that are required by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Regularly required to talk or listen, frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distant vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Work in an open environment with fluctuating temperatures and standard lighting. Work on computer and mobile phone for multiple hours, with frequent interruptions. Travel in elevator or stairwells to attend meetings and engage with associates on multiple floors throughout the building. Hotel, airplane, and car travel required.
