Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Qualifications:

• Interpreter certification from either the Registry for the Deaf or Texas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
• Valid Texas Driver’s License
• Experience working with children (minimum required)
• Willingness to complete district-required fingerprinting (unless prints already on file)

Responsibilities:

• Interpret in classrooms, at school events, and for extracurricular activities including dance, choir, and cheerleading
• Support a junior high student full-time, with occasional extra-curricular hours, and two high school students during the fall term
• Attend and interpret ARD Committee meetings as needed
• Assist classroom teachers in tutoring and managing student behavior
• Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and special school events
• Maintain confidentiality and adapt to the unique communication needs of each student
