Job Description
- Defend clients in consumer finance litigation involving credit cards, mortgage lending, auto finance, and other lending products.
- Handle consumer finance disputes in state and federal courts and arbitration forums.
- Defend claims arising under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Truth in Lending Act (TILA), and Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
- Handle California consumer protection matters involving the Rosenthal Act, California Consumer Credit Reporting Agencies Act (CCRAA), and related common law claims.
- Conduct legal research and develop persuasive litigation strategies.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery responses, and other litigation documents.
- Collaborate with clients and litigation teams to manage matters efficiently.
- Contribute to consumer class action defense matters when applicable.
- Maintain strong organization and attention to detail across multiple active matters.
Qualifications
- Active California Bar license.
- 3+ years of relevant consumer finance litigation defense experience.
- Experience defending matters involving credit card, mortgage, auto finance, or other lending products.
- Experience with FCRA, FDCPA, TILA, TCPA, and California consumer protection statutes preferred.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Experience handling litigation in state and federal courts and/or arbitration forums.
- Consumer class action defense experience desired.
- Ability to work at least 3 days per week in the office.
