Position Overview The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse at the Clinical Nurse II (CN II) level is a vital part of the Women and Newborn Services team, responsible for delivering high‑quality, patient‑centered care. This role requires advanced competencies, specialized certifications, and a strong ability to function autonomously while collaborating with interdisciplinary team members to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes. Hours & Shift Shift Start: 7:00 pm – Shift End: 7:30 am (every other weekend) Pay Range $61,000 – $70,740 – $80,490 Employment Details 3 available positions. This is an Evergreen requisition. Key Responsibilities Coordinate the interprofessional health care team to deliver safe, efficient, patient‑centered, timely and equitable care. Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify patient‑specific needs. Develop and implement individualized care plans. Monitor and evaluate patient interventional responses ensuring swift follow‑up as needed. Act as patient advocate and protect patient dignity and confidentiality. Evaluate effectiveness of care provided by all health care team members and the contribution of systems and environment in progressing patients toward desired outcomes. Provide education to patients and families about medical conditions, medications, and lifestyle modifications. Advocate for evidence‑based practices in Labor and Delivery care. Safety & Compliance Maintain a safe, clean working environment, adhering to infection control and hospital policies. Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols. Comply with hospital and regulatory standards, including The Joint Commission and OSHA guidelines. Adhere to facility policies to ensure safe care. Identify and report safety concerns; demonstrate willingness to address pervasive systemic issues. Documentation Accurately document care measures, interventions, patient progress, and any incidents in the electronic medical record (EMR). Professional Development & Leadership Provide preceptorship and mentorship to new graduate nurses, new hires, and students, fostering their professional development. Participate in professional development activities, including continuing education, certifications, workshops, and quality improvement initiatives. Serve as a resource and advocate for best practices within the Labor and Delivery department. Function in various roles, including charge nurse, OB ED, OB OR Circulator, OB PACU, and transition role as needed. Emergency Preparedness Act decisively in critical situations, such as cardiac arrest, demonstrating advanced clinical skills and composure under pressure. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Technical Skills: Proficient in operating advanced labor & delivery related equipment and technology; circulating and scrubbing (preferred) obstetrics surgical cases; managing procedural sterile fields; Newborn Transition Role; caring for women and newborns throughout the LDRP continuum. Critical Thinking: Rapid decision‑making skills in high‑pressure environments; ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to dynamic cases. Communication: Effective verbal and written communication with the Labor & Delivery team, patients, and families; strong interpersonal skills to support a collaborative team environment. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) with five (5) years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a Labor and Delivery Unit in lieu of BSN. Two years experience as a Registered Nurse in labor and delivery or equivalent setting. California Registered Nurse (RN) – CA Board of Registered Nursing – REQUIRED. AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) – REQUIRED. ACLS Certification – REQUIRED. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – REQUIRED. Preferred Qualifications Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNC‑OB) – preferred. Other Qualification Requirements Current STABLE certification, preferred. Current Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certification (AWHONN or other approved course) – required.
