Property Accountant


Location: Downtown Indianapolis, IN
Salary: $78,000-$85,000
Schedule: Fully in-office for the first 6 months; after 6 months, strong performers may work from home 1 day/week.



About the Opportunity


A growing Indianapolis-based real estate organization is hiring two Property Accountants to join their accounting team. This is a great opportunity for an accountant looking to build a career in property accounting with tons of room for growth and advancement.


One of the two positions requires prior property management/accounting experience, while the other is open to candidates coming from a broader accounting background.



What You'll Do

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements for a portfolio of assigned properties, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company standards
  • Reconcile bank accounts, general ledgers, and balance sheets
  • Assist with budgeting, variance analysis, and financial forecasting
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, and other accounting adjustments
  • Develop relationships with clients and serve as a professional point of contact
You will gradually build your property portfolio and will not be responsible for 15 properties immediately.



What We're Looking For
  • 2-3+ years of accounting experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
  • Property management/accounting experience
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Professional communication and client/customer-facing skills
  • Ability to manage relationships with multiple clients and entities
Preferred Experience
  • Entrata or RealPage experience
  • Audit experience or exposure to the audit process
  • Public accounting or client-facing accounting experience
  • Experience working with multiple entities, branches, or locations
