Construction Accountant

The Construction Accountant is responsible for managing all accounting functions related to construction projects, including AIA progress billing, job costing, project budget analysis, accounts payable, accounts receivable, lien waiver administration, and financial reporting. This role works closely with project managers, subcontractors, and company leadership to ensure accurate project financials, timely billing, and compliance with contract requirements. Key Responsibilities onPrepare, submit, and track monthly AIA progress billings for construction project s.Review contract terms, schedules of values, and change orders to ensure accurate billin g.Process owner billings, retainage, and stored materials documentatio n.Coordinate with project managers to obtain billing approvals and project status update s.Monitor outstanding receivables and assist with collections effort s.Maintain contract files and supporting documentation for audits and customer inquirie Job Cost Account ingEstablish and maintain project budgets and cost codes within the accounting syst em.Track labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs by proje ct.Analyze job cost reports and identify budget varianc es.Reconcile committed costs, purchase orders, subcontract agreements, and change orde rs.Work with project managers to forecast project profitability and cash fl ow.Ensure accurate allocation of expenses to specific projects and cost categori Accounts Payable & Subcontractor Management mentReview and process subcontractor and vendor invoi ces.Verify compliance documents, including certificates of insurance, W-9s, and lien waiv ers.Manage subcontractor payment applications and pay reque sts.Process vendor payments and maintain accounts payable reco rds.Assist with month-end accruals related to project expen ationPrepare monthly project financial reports and work-in-progress (WIP) sched ules.Reconcile general ledger accounts and project-related acco unts.Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close proce sses.Support annual audits and tax preparation activi ties.Generate management reports related to project profitability, cash flow, and cost perform Compliance & Controls ntrolsMaintain compliance with contractual billing requirements and company pol icies.Ensure proper documentation for audits, lender requests, and project re views.Monitor retainage balances and release sche dules.Assist in developing and maintaining accounting procedures and internal con Qualifications ucationBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field pre ferred.Equivalent combination of education and construction accounting experience may be cons erience3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction in dustry.Experience with AIA billing and construction job costing re quired.Experience preparing WIP schedules and project financial reports pre ferred.Familiarity with construction contracts, change orders, retainage, and lien w Technical SkillsStrong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and financial an alysis.Experience with construction accounting software s #J-18808-Ljbffr
