TITLE: Employee Relations Specialist
REPORTS TO: HR Manager
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
FT / PT STATUS: Full Time
LOCATION: Office (Spanish Fort, AL)
SUMMARY
The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for supporting the organization's employee relations function through the investigation, documentation, and resolution of workplace issues. This position partners closely with the Assistant HR Manager and HR leadership to identify, assess, and address employee concerns while ensuring consistent application of company policies and employment practices.
The Employee Relations Specialist serves as the primary investigator and case manager for employee relations matters and assists in maintaining a fair, respectful, and compliant workplace.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and conduct investigations related to workplace concerns including (but not limited to):
- Employee Misconduct
- Harassment
- Discrimination
- Bullying
- Retaliation
- Policy Violations
- Attendance
- Performance
- Conduct interviews and gather relevant facts and documentation.
- Prepare investigation summaries, timelines, and recommendations for review.
- Maintain accurate employee records and documentation while safeguarding confidential employee information in accordance with Company policies and regulations.
- Partner with HR leadership regarding investigation outcomes and corrective actions.
- Monitor investigation timelines and ensure timely resolution.
- Manage employee relations cases from initial reporting through closure.
- Assist HR leadership in tracking and investigation hotline calls.
- Maintain case tracking logs and investigation records.
- Escalate complex, sensitive, or high-risk issues to the HR leadership.
- Identify patterns and trends that may indicate organizational risk.
- Assist leaders and employees with understanding company policies and procedures.
- Support consistent application of company policies across locations and departments.
- Assist in reviewing and updating employee relations procedures and documentation.
- Support HR leadership during audits, litigation preparation, unemployment claims, and agency responses as assigned.
- Provide employee relations guidance to management regarding performance management, documentation, and corrective action processes.
- Assist managers in developing appropriate documentation for employee issues.
- Provide recommendations regarding best practices and risk mitigation.
- Ensure investigation documentation meets company and legal standards.

- Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills
- Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ability to communicate bilingually in English and Spanish is preferred, but not required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 3-5 years of Human Resources experience preferred
- 3-5 years Employee relations or investigation experience required
- Experience supporting multi-location operations preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Office environment with occasional field visits
- Extended periods of computer use
- May occasionally participate in meetings involving sensitive or challenging employee matters
- Ability to travel, including occasional overnight travel, as needed
