Solution Architect DED

Description The Optomec solutions architect will focus on pre‑sales and post‑sales activities, contributing to product management and development by gathering use cases and technical requirements from customers. The role is stationed in Albuquerque, NM, and involves building trusted, collaborative relationships with prospective and existing customers. The solution architect will verify and develop solutions for customers/prospects, working closely with the field‑assigned sales account manager. Duties include providing feedback on product requirements and features, supporting post‑sales troubleshooting, and traveling onsite as needed for support. Career development for the solutions architect will be mapped out in a company‑defined pathing activity. This is a full‑time, salary‑based position with incentive commission based on the success of the supported territory. Management may offer a spot bonus for efforts beyond the region. The position requires forty hours per week. Responsibilities Assist in additive DED pre‑sales activities, gathering customer requirements, building test plans for POC evaluation, and engaging in sales opportunities. Respond to technical requirements for RFP requests and participate in the sales process. Manage activities during solution ideation, design, and implementation to drive customer wins. Review business context, define vision and requirements, recommend options, and develop a roadmap for selected solutions. Communicate architecture to stakeholders and collaborate with domain architects to formalize and adopt best‑practice capabilities. Champion a structured approach to business application solutions. Assist in developing a solutions architecture program, including departmental roadmaps and project initiatives. Ensure solutions fit specific purposes while aligning with Optomec technology standards. Influence changes to standards when necessary and support innovative technology approaches. Coordinate with sales account management on solutions management and financial spend timing. Support architectural aspects of all application projects within the DED portfolio. Identify and recommend appropriate solutions, upgrades, replacements, or decommissioning options based on business and technology productivity, usability, and total cost of ownership. Develop and execute solutions that further reduce reactive work time. Qualifications Excellent oral and written communication. Analytical and problem‑solving skills. High attention to detail in technical assessment of customer needs. Ability to work independently with indirect supervision. Broad understanding of IT topics related to DED technology. Effective interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style that promotes teamwork. Comfort with ambiguity and willingness to acquire new skills. Flexibility in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment with shifting roles. Technically creative and open‑minded. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent education or work experience. Minimum of 3 to 5 years of related experience.
