Job Description The Payroll Specialist plays a key role in supporting accurate and timely payroll operations for a diverse workforce. This position assists employees with payroll-related questions, processes payroll for multiple shifts, manages budget transfer requests, and handles garnishment processing while maintaining a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and customer service. Responsibilities Provide clear and timely assistance to employees regarding payroll questions and concerns. Process payroll for multiple different shifts and shift runs, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established procedures. Review and process budget transfer requests in alignment with organizational guidelines. Handle all garnishment processing, including accurate calculations and proper documentation. Perform data entry and administrative tasks related to payroll and employee records. Act as the face of the payroll department, communicating professionally and effectively with internal employees. Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure accurate payroll calculations and reporting. Collaborate with colleagues and other departments to resolve payroll issues and improve processes. Protect sensitive payroll and employee information by following confidentiality and data security standards. Essential Skills Experience or familiarity with payroll processing and related procedures. Strong communication skills to interact effectively with internal employees and respond to payroll inquiries. Excellent attention to detail to ensure accurate data entry and payroll calculations. Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment. Ability to perform administrative and data entry tasks with a high degree of accuracy. Professional demeanor and customer service orientation when representing the payroll department. Additional Skills & Qualifications Accounting or payroll experience is a plus, including exposure to budgeting or financial processes. Work Environment This position is fully on-site at a corporate office within a large, student-centered educational institution. The role is scheduled for 37.5 hours per week, offering a stable, weekday-oriented work schedule. You will work closely with faculty, staff, and administrative teams in a professional office setting that values collaboration, learning, and service to students. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tampa, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
