Staff Accountant

Salary Mid-Point: $72,500 Location: Fox Chapel PA Job Type: Permanent IFG Pittsburgh is actively recruiting Staff Accountant responsible for accounting operations, including full-cycle accounts payable and weekly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance by validating employee compensation, benefits, and deductions. Additionally, the Staff Accountant will support the monthly and year-end close process through account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial analyses that contribute to accurate financial reporting. Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant Oversee the full-cycle accounts payable function, including invoice review, approval routing, GL coding, vendor reconciliation, and timely payment processing to ensure accuracy, compliance, and strong vendor relationships. Manage weekly payroll processing for union and non-union employees, ensuring accurate calculation of wages, overtime, deductions, fringe benefits, and contractual labor provisions while maintaining strict adherence to payroll deadlines. Review and validate payroll transactions, union benefits, and related reporting requirements to ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements, regulatory requirements, and internal financial controls. Perform detailed reconciliations of payroll, vendor accounts, and general ledger balances, researching and resolving discrepancies to support accurate financial statements and month-end reporting. Support monthly and year-end close activities through the preparation of journal entries, account analyses, balance sheet reconciliations, and other financial schedules critical to timely and accurate reporting. Develop, maintain, and analyze Excel-based reports, schedules to provide management with meaningful insights into operational performance, labor costs, and spending trends. Collaborate closely with operations, project teams, and senior leadership to address accounting-related matters, improve financial processes, and support informed business decision-making across the organization. Requirement of the Staff Accountant Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred. 3+ years of accounting experience with a solid foundation in day-to-day financial operations Hands-on experience in both accounts payable and payroll processing is required Background supporting payroll for a high-volume employee population, ideally within a union environment. Strong Excel capabilities, including the ability to build and maintain useful financial reports. Ability to learn new software applications and adapt to company-specific systems. Effective organization, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with a detail-oriented and collaborative approach.
