Job Summary

Join a dedicated Maternal Child Health team as a Registered Nurse specializing in Labor & Delivery in New York, US. The Cayuga Birthplace is a comprehensive unit featuring six Labor and Delivery Rooms, two Labor Triage Rooms, eleven Postpartum Rooms, a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with four single-family rooms for individualized care, and a Cesarean Section Surgical Operating Room and PACU within the Labor and Delivery Suite.

This role provides direct patient care to a diverse maternal and neonatal patient population, ranging from uncomplicated to highly complex needs. The successful candidate will be cross-trained across Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and/or NICU, demonstrating a commitment to person-centered care and collaborative practice within a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive direct patient care to designated patients within the Maternal Child Health department.
• Collaborate with unit leadership to ensure adherence to the scope of practice and standards set by nursing governing bodies, including AWONN, ACOG, NNA, and AORN.
• Perform thorough patient and family assessments, recognizing normal parameters, deviations, and abnormalities in physical, emotional, developmental, and behavioral status.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate person-centered care plans, prioritizing patient and family needs and involving them in establishing care goals.
• Demonstrate critical thinking skills by making appropriate clinical decisions, prioritizing planned and unplanned events, and proactively addressing potential and actual problems.
• Maintain competence in the technical skills required for the care of maternal and neonatal patients and families.
• Act as a resource to peers and demonstrate initiative in remaining current on hospital policies, procedures, and standards.
• Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration, linking patients and families with other disciplines and services as needed for optimal care outcomes.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
• Labor & Delivery experience required.
• Ability to cross-train and float within Maternal Child Health (Labor & Delivery, L&D OR/PACU, Postpartum, NICU).
• Ability to float to other hospital departments on a rotational basis.

Preferred Qualifications

• Postpartum experience.
