Job Title: Quality Control Technician

Job Description

The Quality Control Technician supports a growing quality control team by managing product samples and ensuring production processes consistently meet established quality and regulatory standards. This role focuses on sample management, documentation, and on-floor oversight of manufacturing operations to help maintain compliance with FDA and GMP guidelines while supporting the expansion of the quality function at a major production facility.

Responsibilities

• Manage product samples to support the quality control group, including organizing, tracking, and maintaining samples for testing and inspection.
• Work on the production floor to ensure filler operators follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) correctly and consistently.
• Inspect incoming raw materials to confirm they meet established specifications and quality standards.
• Verify that lot numbers and product numbers match the corresponding bottle numbers to maintain accurate traceability.
• Document production goals and performance for all nine manufacturing lines, ensuring records are complete, accurate, and up to date.
• Audit production documentation and manufacturing processes to confirm compliance with internal procedures, FDA regulations, and GMP requirements.
• Audit incoming raw materials and associated documentation to identify any discrepancies or issues before use in production.
• Collect samples from production lines for later testing and inspection, ensuring proper labeling, handling, and chain of custody.
• Collaborate with other members of the QC team to support continuous improvement of quality processes and documentation.
• Support the transition of quality control activities as the QC function expands within the production facility.
• Maintain organized records and files to support audits, investigations, and regulatory compliance.

Essential Skills

• Experience or strong interest in quality control, including sample management, inspection, and documentation.
• Ability to perform detailed documentation and data entry with high accuracy and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of or exposure to FDA and GMP guidelines in a manufacturing or laboratory-related environment.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple production lines, samples, and documentation requirements.
• Ability to work on a production floor and interact with filler operators and other manufacturing personnel.
• Foundational knowledge in science, such as biology or related disciplines, to understand quality control concepts.
• Ability to audit documentation and processes and identify errors, inconsistencies, or deviations.
• Comfort with inspecting raw materials and verifying lot and product numbers for traceability.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with QC, QA, and regulatory team members.
• Willingness to work different shifts as needed, including temporary second shift and occasional Saturdays.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a science discipline is strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Biology is highly valued.
• Degrees in material science, physics, or geology are also considered.
• Candidates who have been out of the industry for a few years and wish to return are welcome.
• Non-degreed candidates with relevant quality control experience may be considered.
• Interest in career growth into quality assurance and regulatory roles, with potential promotion to QA/Regulatory after approximately two years.
• Experience or coursework in biology, science, or related fields that supports understanding of pharmaceutical or antiseptic solutions.
• Experience in environments that follow FDA and GMP guidelines is beneficial.
• Strong interest in working in a growing generic drug and pharmaceutical solutions environment

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lake Villa, IL.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Lake Villa,IL.
