Communications Coordinator

Company Description Founded in 2008, Madison House Autism Foundation’s mission is to promote, model and advocate for the full inclusion of adults with autism and their families in the life of our communities, and to expand choice and opportunity in housing, employment, and social participation. Located in Montgomery County’s Agricultural Reserve, Madison Fields is a 265-acre working farm and community campus that offers job readiness and skills training for adults with autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities (A/I/DD). It also serves the greater community by providing agricultural education, diverse indoor and outdoor spaces for personal or corporate events, and individual and group volunteer opportunities to support our mission. Role Description The Communications Coordinator will lead the creation and implementation of Madison House Autism Foundation’s and Madison Fields’ communication strategies. This role ensures consistent branding across all channels, engages targeted stakeholders, and supports reporting and fundraising efforts through compelling storytelling. Strategic Planning & Research Develop and implement integrated communication plans for organization and Madison Fields. Seek information on current events and research in the autism community to share internally with program and organization staff and externally through program and organization communication channels. Research and share information on funding opportunities. Content Creation Create and distribute engaging content tailored to different audiences for websites, social media, newsletters, conferences, presentations, and press releases including blog posts and success stories. Develop program templates and materials for program outreach efforts such as project summaries and process explanations. Create toolkits, style guides, and assets for consistent, on‑brand communications. Manage graphic design, photo, and video production projects including working with external contractors. Develop marketing materials to promote Madison Fields programs and its micro-industries. Program Coordination Consult with internal teams on audience‑specific communications strategies, tactics, and content. Develop and maintain organization and program communications calendar. Develop and maintain program and organization knowledge management system including a digital asset library. Donor & Public Engagement Develop materials to support fundraising, donor stewardship, and program outreach. Respond to public inquiries. Media Relations Develop and manage relationships with different types of media outlets – television, radio, podcasts, and print; arrange earned media opportunities with them. Coordinate social media strategies on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Manage regular posts on social media and respond to online audiences. Monitor and report on public sentiment to media. Analytics & Reporting Track and measure engagement, providing regular reports to management on program performance. Document program processes, lessons learned, and success stories. Draft and edit semi‑annual, annual, and other program and organization reports. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field. 2–3 years of experience in a nonprofit communications or marketing role. Strong proofreading, editing, writing, and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in digital tools (social media, CMS like WordPress, email marketing). Detail‑oriented, creative, and proactive, with a passion for the organization’s mission. Critical thinking skills and the ability to turn data into compelling narrative.
