Insurance Verification Specialist (Healthcare/ Hospital Setting)

Description Sub Acute Admissions Day-to-day Duties Confirm patient insurance coverage, identify potential authorization needs for treatment, and collect patient demographics and medical information to ensure appropriate patient account reimbursement Utilize EPIC for patient intake and updating / verifying demographics Authorize patients for beds Handle claims, request authorizations, and attach referrals Identify services requiring authorization for treatment and referral information Verify patient insurance and input correct options for pre-registration (HMO vs. PPO, Medicare, Medicaid) Collect co-pay and discuss shared costs / patient financial responsibility Receive calls from case managers from other ministries and/or healthcare facilities Utilize knowledge of medical terminology Work closely with physician offices/ministries Deal with various departments at remote locations, may be supporting other locations Customer Service: make internal employees as well as patients comfortable over the phone and in-person Skills Customer service Additional Skills & Qualifications EPIC preferred Bilingual in Spanish is PLUS Skilled Nursing Facility background is a plus Hospital experience is a MUST 3+ years of healthcare experience in a hospital setting Experience Level Expert Level Job Type & Location Contract position based out of San Pedro, CA. Pay and Benefits Pay: $24.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on classification and length of employment.
