Assistant Project Manager - Commercial Construction

Snapshot / Role Overview
We're seeking an Assistant Project Manager in Durham, NC to support commercial mechanical construction projects and develop project management skills under senior leadership.

Impact

Support project success by coordinating submittals, RFIs, and project documentation efficiently
Contribute to on-time project delivery by tracking schedules and communicating status to stakeholders
Assist with budget management by processing change orders and tracking project costs
Learn project management fundamentals while supporting healthcare and commercial construction projects

Responsibilities

Assist project managers with daily project coordination and administrative tasks
Process submittals and track approvals through the review cycle
Coordinate RFIs and distribute responses to field supervision and subcontractors
Maintain project documentation including meeting minutes, daily reports, and correspondence
Track project schedules and identify potential delays or issues
Review and process subcontractor invoices and change orders
Coordinate material deliveries and equipment procurement with suppliers
Attend job site meetings and document action items and decisions

Requirements

Must-Haves
Bachelor's degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, or related field
1-3 years of experience in construction or mechanical trades
Strong organizational and communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel and Project
Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites

Nice-to-Haves
Internship or co-op experience in commercial construction
Familiarity with Procore or other construction management software
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
