Mott MacDonald is in the market for a CEI Project Administrator for our growing CEI team in Florida, most specifically in Orlando or Tampa. FDOT experience preferred. Responsibilities include: Receiving general instructions regarding assignments and exercising initiative and independent judgment in the solution of work problems. Prepare construction inspection summaries of daily activities. Review drawings, specifications, and other contract documents for constructability (plans, specs, shop drawings) Manage the team of inspectors, coordinate their schedules, and oversee their work and records. Monitor work zone traffic control plan and identify discrepancies and potential issues. Monitor the erosion control plan and identify discrepancies and potential issues. Oversee and accept project sampling and testing of component materials and completed work. Verify the dimensions and calculations of prepared and completed work. Analyze complex construction/design problems requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures and consults with design engineering personnel. Inform Client on project issues and provide them with recommendations. Interact with Project Managers and clients in a proactive manner to determine what routine issues affecting project management need to be addressed. Maintain construction project records in accordance with FDOT procedures. Interface proactively with the project managers, contractors, and inspection staff on various facets of the project including review of contract plans and documents, day-to-day construction activities and review of contractors’ submittals. Perform/oversee the review of daily inspection reports and quantity computations. Responsible for the progress and final estimates throughout the construction project duration. Track / measure complete work quantities for payment. Adhere to company marketing requirements by providing timely resume updates. Review detailed records of the contractor’s daily operations including manpower, equipment, construction methods, and events that affect the work. Ability to: Communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing). We invite applications from candidates with the following experience: For personnel with Engineering, Engineering Technology or Construction Management degrees: Two (2) years of engineering experience in relevant transportation projects. A master’s degree in engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management may be substituted for one (1) year of engineering experience. For personnel without Engineering, Engineering Technology or Construction Management degree: Eight (8) years of CEI or roadway or bridge construction experience, Two (2) of those years involved in relevant transportation projects. Certifications: Qualifications/certifications for this position may be obtained within six (6) months from the date of hire provided that this position works under the supervision and direction of a Senior Project Engineer, all other requirements for the position are met, and a training plan is submitted detailing when the qualifications/certifications will be obtained.
