General Cleaner, Schedule: 40 Hours, Overnight and rotating weekends

Position General Cleaner – Environmental Services Location: Environmental Services Schedule: 40 hours, overnight and rotating weekends, 11pm – 7:30am Position Summary Performs a range of housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and sanitized environment throughout the hospital, including operating equipment and following approved cleaning procedures. Job Responsibilities Maintain daily cleaning of assigned areas following hospital cleaning procedures. Perform tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, polishing, dusting, and cleansing of designated objects/areas. Operate vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, burnishers, buffers, wall washing equipment, and other power machinery as instructed. Maintain stock of housekeeping supplies and keep closets and equipment organized. Prepare patient rooms for occupancy after discharge or transfer, sanitizing beds, furniture, and equipment. Clean and maintain refrigerators, stoves, ovens, and other patient and non‑patient care equipment. Set up and clean meeting rooms per department requester specifications. Collect and dispose of all trash and waste as needed. Clean, disinfect, and sanitize bathroom sinks, floors, and showers (if applicable); refill soap, paper towel, and tissue dispensers. Job Requirements Ability to read, follow oral and written instructions in English (equivalent to completion of elementary school). Ability to learn and perform basic housekeeping practices and understand hospital policies and procedures. Experience in floor care and carpet care preferred. High School diploma or GED preferred.
