Position Overview Customs and Trade Compliance Specialist – responsible for executing the company’s customs and trade compliance program in a regulated medical device environment across Convatec locations in the US, Canada and other global locations as needed. Key Responsibilities Assist the Customs and Trade Compliance team in delivering and executing a standardized, compliant international trade compliance program. Manage operational duties for the US/Canada customs and trade compliance program, both import and export. Ensure import and export shipments conform to governmental rules by managing inquiries and requests from brokers, forwarders, manufacturing sites, distribution centers and other stakeholders. Support the Temporary Importation Under Bond (TIB) process for goods entering the country temporarily, ensuring regulatory adherence. Support FDA Import for Export (IFE) program activities, including import, export, reconciliation, and re-export to global markets. Identify process improvement opportunities in daily customs and trade compliance transactions. Support continuous improvement and automation initiatives in trade compliance. Assist with customs and trade compliance record‑keeping and the development, implementation, and maintenance of standard operating procedures and work instructions. Review global Harmonized Tariff Codes (HTS) and update SAP master data, global classification solutions, and customs broker databases. Maintain broker and customs agency reports, monitor performance and support monthly business reviews (MBRs). Develop and maintain customs and trade compliance processes, shared storage solutions, and training activities. Evaluate, investigate, and mitigate potential customs and trade compliance risks. Utilize global classification software to automate and audit global HTS classification. Support entry verification integrated system solutions to automate and manage import entry data verification, identifying errors and implementing corrective actions. Conduct manual audits of entry data using broker data, government reporting (e.g., ACE), and other customs agency data, and implement corrective actions to improve compliance and broker performance. Develop and maintain trade compliance KPIs, broker scorecards, compliance trends, and risk assessments. Support projects as needed across global Convatec operations. Skills & Experience Understanding of Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification principles and ability to support classification activities. Knowledge of U.S. import/export regulations. Analytical problem‑solving ability and experience analyzing complex issues using data from multiple sources. Self‑starter with strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook. Good working knowledge of SAP transactions and reports (preferred). Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize independently and collaboratively. Experience in a regulated industry (medical device, pharma) is a plus. Exposure to TIB or IFE concepts is a plus. Qualifications / Education 1‑2 years of experience in international trade compliance regulations for import and export. Bachelor’s degree (equivalent experience may be considered). Work Conditions Position is remote; occasional office attendance may be required for meetings or events.
