About Hypsi Hypsi, the signature restaurant at Hotel Daphne in the heart of Houston Heights, has opened its doors and is building a passionate, hospitality‑driven team. Italian‑inspired with a Houston spirit, Hypsi launches with dinner service and will expand into breakfast and lunch. The menu spotlights a robust pasta program and approachable entrées, complemented by a roaming mozzarella cart. Your Role Reporting to the Sous Chef(s), the Steward exceeds expectations by completing tasks that include but are not limited to cleaning dishes, kitchen, food preparation equipment, and utensils. The Steward works closely with front‑of‑house and back‑of‑house teams to ensure customer satisfaction. Requirements include good communication skills and the ability to lift, pull and push a moderate weight. The position is fast‑paced and rewards exceptional performance. Responsibilities Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos and verbal instruction. Bus dining room and patio, keeping tables clear of dishes and food remnants. Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and/or pans using dishwashers or by hand. Place clean dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment in storage areas. Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in a clean and orderly condition. Stock supplies such as food and utensils in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, and salad bars. Sweep and scrub floors. Clean garbage cans with water or steam. Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pickup areas. Assist in unloading deliveries (food and supplies). Ensure open lines of communication via email, logbooks, meetings, etc., to meet the needs of the restaurant. Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area. Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition. Maintain an increased awareness of safety issues throughout the property. Keep abreast of safety and emergency procedures and OSHA requirements. Attend relevant meetings. Qualifications Six (6) months related experience in hospitality or service industry preferred. Ability to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or guests. Physical Requirements Comply with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards. Maintain regular, punctual attendance.
