Insurance Product Development SpecialistRichmond National is seeking a Product Development Specialist to drive and lead the design, evolution, and production of commercial insurance products with a focus on regulatory compliance in the surplus lines industry. This role combines deep expertise with insurance product innovation to deliver high-quality, market-responsive offerings. You'll help shape innovative specialty products while working in a collaborative environment that values legal precision, technical excellence, and underwriting insight.ResponsibilitiesProduct Design & InnovationLead the development of new commercial lines insurance products and enhance existing products.Translate underwriting strategies into policy forms, endorsements, applications and related materials.Monitor market trends, competitor offerings, and legal/regulatory/judicial changes to inform product enhancements.Legal & RegulatoryDraft and review policy forms and endorsements to ensure legal soundness and clarity.Coordinate within the internal legal and compliance department to validate state-specific regulatory adherence.Cross-Functional CollaborationPartner with actuarial to align form language and risk appetite.Support underwriting and claims with coverage interpretations, training, and documentation.Collaborate with IT and operations teams to implement policy changes into systems and processes.Leadership & StrategyLead internal initiatives for product standardization, innovation pilots, or compliance audits.QualificationsEducationBachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, or a related field is required.Skills and Experience7+ years of commercial lines insurance experience.At least 3+ years in a product development or related role.Expertise in policy drafting, coverage analysis, and insurance law.Exceptional legal drafting, communication, and analytical skills.Deep understanding of insurance regulatory frameworks across states.Familiarity with ISO circulars, and bureau-based product frameworks.Proficiency in Microsoft Office.Experience with product lifecycle management tools (i.e. Mozart) is a plus.Benefits OverviewMedical, Dental, and Vision insurance plans.
