Controller

StevenDouglas has been retained to identify a Controller for our global professional association based in Chicago. This is a Head of Accounting & Finance role and reports directly to the CEO. Leading a team, the Controller is responsible for all accounting functions—including month-end close, cash management, compliance, tax, and financial systems. The Controller also performs financial planning & analysis, financial reporting, and governance. This is a hybrid role working 1-2 days a week in the office. Responsibilities Oversee month-end close, general ledger reconciliations, and all transactional accounting (payables, receivables, revenue, expenses, fixed assets, investments, and restricted funds) Oversee all transactional accounting including payables, receivables, revenue, expenses, fixed assets, investments, and restricted funds Lead the annual budgeting, reforecasting, and monthly financial package preparation Manage Form 5500 403(b) audit; complete schedules for Form 990, Form 990-T, and all related state filings, working with external partners Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA required Demonstrated experience managing an accounting team with multiple direct reports Nonprofit accounting experience, including GAAP compliance, audit management, and 990 filings Track record of implementing process improvements and reducing month-end close timelines Ability to communicate financial information clearly to senior leadership, boards, and audit and finance committee #J-18808-Ljbffr
