The Role:
The Account Manager – Specialty Audio is part of the Sales organization reporting to the Director of Sales and works daily with cross-functional partners. This position is responsible for driving sales of Victrola’s specialty audio products into national omni-channel retail accounts and regional brick & mortar accounts. The ideal candidate has strong communication and negotiation skills, a passion for music and specialty audio, and will be comfortable working primarily in an office environment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Lead business development initiatives to acquire new specialty audio accounts. Assess new business opportunities with current and prospective partners and create relevant, achievable customer business goals.
- Proactively meets with key customer stakeholders to manage the communication and sales process.
- Generates concise customer-facing presentations that are anchored to specific business objectives
- Communicates sales goals, obstacles and new opportunities to Sales leadership for support and approval.
- Provides detailed bottom-up forecast by product and customer monthly, with commentary to support data.
- Manages and maintains accurate retail marketing accrual summaries and reassess the future retail marketing plan needed to maintain the sales goals while staying within budget.
- Coordinates and collaborates with internal colleagues to ensure sales goals and team coordination efforts are optimized to meet/exceed sales goals while minimizing costs.
- Provides customer insight to consumers desires/trends in both product and marketing areas specific to retailers.
- Provides strategic customer summaries and in-depth analysis of customer opportunities to help guide management decisions to optimize successful and sustainable business opportunities in the future.
- Support of Account Receivables (AR) with finance and commercial operations.
- Analyze sell-through data and generate action plans accordingly.
- Other duties as assigned
Skills/Abilities:
- Must possess proficiency working with sales software, Microsoft Office, and SAP S/4HANA or related system.
- Must have experience with managing and negotiating annual customer programs
- Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) for interacting with team members, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to deliver clear, engaging and persuasive presentations to diverse audiences.
- Able to clearly and confidently deliver recommendations both internally and externally.
- Ability to identify business opportunities and to solve practical problems and conclude summaries that define the direction of the business in the future.
- Must develop in-depth knowledge of products to effectively address customer needs and provide accurate information.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- 5+ years’ experience with a manufacturing company in a direct sales role, CE/Audio preferred.
- Previous proven experience in business acquisition and sales growth.
- Previous experience working with Best Buy, Walmart, Target and other large retailers.
- Previous experience leading independent Sales Reps.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
- Must be able to utilize standard office equipment such as a laptop, mouse, headset, printer, etc.
- Must be able to lift items weighing between 10-25 pounds.
- Must be able to stand for 2-4 hours per day and sit 4-6 hours per day and walk for 0-1 hours per day.
- This position rarely requires bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling or moving in repetitive motions.
- This position is rarely exposed to hazards, temperature extremes and vibrations.
- This position works in an occasionally noisy environment depending on meetings and call volume.
