---- Job Details: General Notes Selection is made by committee and hiring supervisor based on review of applications and results of personal interviews. Hiring decision is contingent upon applicant clearing a security background check. Must be eligible to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship. Work schedule will be determined through conversation with supervisor. This position will end May 15, 2027. The Graduate Career Consultant will need to be available during the working office hours of the Office of Career & Life Design. Purpose The Office of Career & Life Design (OCLD) supports graduate students and postdoctoral scholars in exploring and pursuing careers across academia, industry, nonprofit, and government. Graduate Career Consultants are embedded partners in the work of the office that contribute meaningfully to career education, employer and community engagement, communications, assessment, and more. Responsibilities Workshop & Program Support
Support the planning, facilitation, and follow-up for career programming, workshops, and events. Contribute to the design and improvement of program materials and help ensure a positive experience for graduate student and postdoc participants.
• Plan and prepare for workshops and events, coordinating logistics, materials, and communications in advance.
• Facilitate or co-facilitate workshops, panels, and programming offered by the office.
• Follow up after programs by collecting feedback, updating resources, and supporting continuous improvement. Outreach & Engagement
Connect with graduate students, postdocs, campus partners, alumni, and other stakeholders to promote programs, build relationships, and support awareness of OCLD resources and services.
• Promote programs and resources to graduate students and postdocs through various communication channels.
• Build and maintain relationships with campus partners, alumni, employers, and other stakeholders relevant to the project area.
• Support community-building efforts that increase awareness of and access to OCLD services. Resource Development
Create and maintain career resources, guides, and online content that support graduate students and postdocs across disciplines and career paths.
• Develop written guides, handouts, and other materials related to career exploration, job search strategy, and professional development.
• Create and update digital content for the OCLD website, online platforms, and other channels.
• Review and refresh existing resources to ensure content is current, accurate, and relevant. Team Collaboration
Contribute to a collaborative and supportive office culture by engaging actively with the OCLD team.
• Attend regular team meetings and communicate proactively with supervisor and colleagues.
• Participate in office-wide initiatives, events, and professional development opportunities as available.
• Support a positive and inclusive team environment that reflects the values of the Office of Career & Life Design. Project Areas
Graduate Career Consultants contribute to one or more project areas based on office needs and individual skills and interests. You will have the opportunity to indicate the areas you are interested in when responding to application questions. Current project areas on the team include:
