Assistant Director of Nursing

Sunnyside Care Center is actively looking for an RN Assistant Director of Nursing to join our nursing team. As the ADON, you will be responsible to plan, organize, develop and supervise the day-to-day nursing activities of an 80 bed facility. The ADON plays a key role in creating a positive patient experience. In this role, you will assume responsibility for the overall assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care on the units to help facilitate and deliver comprehensive quality nursing care and to manage the environment in which care is given. The ADON will also assist in maintaining high standards of patient safety, privacy, care and cleanliness. Previous experience in a medical setting and/or as an ADON is required for this position. Responsibilities: · Ensures that the highest degree of quality patient care is maintained. · Ensures that a safe and effective resident care environment is maintained at all times. · Assesses and documents resident's care needs, at a minimum, upon admission, hospital return, in-house transfer and occurrence of a significant change in condition. · Ensures that the physician orders are carried out (medication, wound dressing, tube feeding, and oxygen monitoring, fluid restrictions). · Maintain a great working relationship with the facilities medical staff. · Notifies the resident's attending physician as well as the resident's legal guardian and/or designated representative with any changes of condition or other clinical events. · Prioritizes tasks for nursing staff, deals with staffing issues and problems, assists with goals, planning, customer service, etc. · Ensures that all accident/incidents are recorded and investigated, as needed. · Makes daily unit rounds in all resident care areas to assist with maintaining the quality of nursing services rendered · Develops and implements the resident's plan of care. · Supervise and monitor all documentation by the licensed practical nurses and certified nurse aides as related to the residents plan of care on the unit. · Attends management meetings, care plan meetings and other clinical meetings. · The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) is under the supervision of the Director of Nursing and is responsible for coordinating unit's workflow and following through on the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) processes · Assists the Director of Nursing Services in developing, revising, implementing, and overseeing policies and procedures for the Nursing department · Assists in interviewing for the Nursing department · Shares the responsibility with Director of Nursing Services for on-call responsibility · Functions as Director of Nursing Services in his/her absence · Responds to resident, family, visitor, and staff complaints/grievances in a timely and appropriate manner Requirements/Qualifications: · Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience in long-term care setting - Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience · Licensed in NYS as a Registered Nurse Job Type: Full-time Benefits: Dental insurance Health insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Medical specialties: Geriatrics Hospice & Palliative Medicine Wound Care Physical setting: Long term care Nursing home Schedule: Monday to Friday On call Overtime Ability to commute/relocate: East Syracuse, NY 13057: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required) Experience: Supervising experience: 1 year (Preferred) License/Certification: RN (Preferred) Work Location: In person
