Support Specialist I - Payroll

SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIESThis administrative position works and completes a variety of assignments that support day-to-day work of the Payroll team in the Benefit Services Division. Responsibilities include but are not limited to data entry, verifying and compiling information, record keeping, and benefit processing to support the team.IDEAL CANDIDATE STATMENTOur ideal candidate is a team player who is detail oriented, and shows initiative. Individuals must be able to perform these duties with or without reasonable accommodations.Responsible for data entry input, information retrieval, written correspondence and mailingsResearches and compiles account information, reports, files, and benefit applicationsReviews submitted forms and documents. Including, applications, powers of attorney and other legal documents, and benefits paperwork for accuracy and completeness.Responsible for processing items in work queues; resolves issues according to established proceduresCommunicates with retirees and other stakeholders submitting documentation when clarification or follow-up is necessaryInteracts with membership at front desk, responds to questions, and/or refers questions or issues to appropriate staff or departmentCoordinates meeting schedules and conference roomsPrepares reports, and presents information in a meaningful and logical mannerContributes to development of department through projects and initiativesApplies a general knowledge of principles, procedures and practices related to the assigned areaUnderstands and documents established standard operating proceduresParticipates in training and educational opportunities for ongoing professional developmentMaintains regular and prompt attendance in the workplaceCarries out other duties as assignedJOB QUALIFICATIONSA combination of education and experience equivalent to 1-2 years of administrative, benefits, financial, customer service, and/or office experienceDetail oriented, analytical and organized with effective time management and problem solving skillsEffective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with knowledge of proper English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuationDemonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information and situations appropriatelyAbility to prioritize work with moderate direction and oversightAbility to work independently and within a team environmentProficiency with Microsoft Office software including SharePointWORKING CONDITIONSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
