Under the supervision of the Clinical Operations Manager, the Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting patients, RNs and Physicians while in clinic.Essential Functions:Provide all duties of a Medical AssistantArrive 30 minutes prior to start of clinic to prep for the clinical dayPull and review any information that your provider might request for incoming patients such as MRI results, Xray reports, progress notes, therapy notes, lab results, and/or prior patient encountersRetrieve all imaging reports and labs from outside sources 2 days prior to patient appointment. (if available)Prep for scheduled injections, wound care, aspirations, toenail removals, cast care, and any other clinical procedures by making sure all supplies are available and accessibleAssist patients to exam rooms and instruct patient on process of changing into exam clothes (if needed)Obtain vitals, update patient history, reconcile home medications, review patient allergies, and current smoking statusAssist with DME patient education and fitting/ Completing ABN formsAssist medical secretaries with any questions they may haveAssist with clinical scheduling, problem solving, patient wait times, and other areas of concern to increase efficient and quality servicesAssist in organizing and participating in quality improvement activities and servicesCommunicate any clinical disruptions to the Medical Assistant SupervisorSenior Medical Assistants will help assist in orientating new hiresAnswer all voicemails, emails, and tasks assigned prior to the end of each workdayPerform End of Day duties and tasks prior to leaving for the dayFill in for other clinics and Urgent Care as needed (occasional Saturday hours)Other duties as assignedTravel between clinics is requiredAbilities:Proactively identify and develop effective solutionsCooperate with other individuals and departmentsComplete assignments in a timely and satisfactory mannerAdapt well to changes in policy and job demandsDemonstrate professionalism with co-workers and the publicContribute ideas to improve individual and practice performanceDetermine the multiple tasks involved and prioritize completionAct with integrity, honesty, and truthfulness in all areas of workMaintain confidentiality and uphold aspects of work that need to remain privateCarry out work duties and responsibilities competently and in a timely mannerEducation:High school diploma. Graduation from Medical Assistant Program. CMA, NHA, or RMA Certification requiredExperience:Minimum one year work experience in public contact job, preferably service related. Experience or interest in health carePhysical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods, work longer than eight (8) hour shifts, and to work both day/evening shifts. Work may hand dexterity as well as the need to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. Involves frequent personal and telephone contact with patients and with testing sites and surgery departments. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive.
