GIFTS OFFICER

OVERVIEW

Under the guidance and supervision of Director of Development the Annual Fund/ Mid-range Gifts Officer is responsible for planning and implementing strategies for identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of new and existing individual donors to support the mission of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. This role will guide the direct mail and digital solicitation strategy and manage annual giving to the organization. This position will focus on strategically expanding the organization's annual and mid-range giving program to significantly increase the base of yearly gifts through frontline prospect and donor management and will focus on prospects and donors from initial gifts through the $2,500 to $10,000 giving ranges. This position is a key member of the development team to grow SVdP mission

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Secure new, renewed, or increased funding from individuals through online giving, direct mail and digital campaigns, and direct proposals
• Oversight of Donor Perfect gift entry system and reporting in partnership with the Development Assistant/Executive Assistant.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with individual donors, volunteers, and community stakeholders
• Plan and execute steps for donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship for annual donors giving unrestricted gifts to St. Vincent de Paul.
• Work with the Director of Communications and vendors to design, manage and measure a comprehensive direct mail program and digital giving strategies.
• Analyze direct mail/digital solicitation program results data to refine and increase ROI
• Oversee strategy and implementation for Giving Tuesday , Give STL, and other giving days.
• Work with Director of Development and the Executive Director to establish annual fund revenue goals for fiscal year.
• Work closely with the Communications Department to develop and manage consistent messaging to donors and prospects.
• Work effectively with Director of Development & Executive Director to identify new donors and build strategies for engaging and encouraging donors to give at higher levels.
• Make presentations to groups (i.e. The Martha’s).
• Researches new grant opportunities and makes funding recommendations
• Assists with writing and editing grants

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent
• Two (2) or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

• Knowledge of:
  • MS Windows (Advanced level)
  • Donor Perfect (Intermediate to Advanced), preferred
  • Grant writing

• Skills and Abilities:

• Experience with Donor Perfect gift entry and reporting
• Oral and written communication to wide and varied audiences
• Read, analyze and interpret complex documents
• Sound knowledge of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul preferred.
• Understanding of the basic elements of fundraising.
• Proven experience with interfacing with donors and prospects.
• Knowledge of databases and research engines.
• Ability to collect, organize and analyze data related to donor giving.
• Well versed in direct mail and digital solicitation best practices and implementation.
• Excellent organizational, writing, and verbal communication skills.
• Must be strategic and forward thinking.
• Positive attitude and passion for playing a role in fulfilling the organization's mission.
