Travel RN - Operating Room

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position at a Level III Trauma facility in Kansas, requiring at least 2 years of OR experience and on-call availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Job Details

• Acute care hospital OR setting with 4 operating suites and 1 GI Endoscopy Room,
• Level III Trauma facility,
• Common cases include robotic and laparoscopic cholecystectomy, hernia repair, appendectomies, basic orthopedic, gynecology, and podiatry procedures,
• Staffed with at least 1 OR tech and 1 first assist per case; charge nurse and house supervisor support available,
• RNs are not required to scrub,
• EMR: Epic,
• Day shift, 8-hour shifts, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday,
• Evening, weekend, and holiday on-call required; 30-minute call response time required,
• No floating outside of the OR under normal circumstances; in cases of extreme need, floating may occur within the local zone,
• 13-week contract,

Job Requirements

• Active KS RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license - must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted,
• Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience required,
• Current BLS certification (AHA) required; pending certifications not accepted,
• Epic EMR experience preferred,
• Robotic surgery and GI endoscopy experience preferred,
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility; a valid driver's license is required to verify permanent address,
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire,
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration,

Additional Information

• Orientation includes a unit-specific competency checkoff and supervised time with staff until proficiency is established; clinicians must be on-site for the orientation week even if initial modules are completed remotely,
• Ceil blue scrubs are provided by the facility,
• Holiday call coverage is required,
• Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered,
• Travelers are expected to secure housing that allows them to meet floating obligations within their assigned zone
