Travel RN - Leadership - Nurse Manager

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Nurse Manager role overseeing both a Cath Lab and ICU at an acute care hospital in Kansas, requiring a minimum of 3 years of RN experience and 1 year of management or clinical leadership experience.

Job Details

• Acute care hospital setting overseeing both the Cath Lab and ICU departments,
• Cath Lab consists of 1 procedure room and 3 pre/post bays; ICU has 8 beds,
• Cath Lab patient population includes Cardiac, Vascular, EP, IR, and Non-Invasive Cardiology cases; ICU population includes Cardiac and Respiratory patients (Sepsis, DKA, STEMI, Non-STEMI, COPD exacerbation, CKD),
• Cath Lab staffing ratio is 3-4 per case (RN/Tech); ICU ratio is 1:2, which may increase to 1:3 based on acuity,
• RNs are required to titrate drips; Cath Lab: vasoactive drugs, Heparin, IIbIIIa inhibitors, blood products; ICU: Levophed, Vasopressin, Epi, Neo, Nitroglycerin, Amiodarone, Versed, Propofol, Fentanyl, Nimbex, Insulin,
• Cath Lab pre/post area requires 2 ACLS-certified RNs across 3 bays,
• Respiratory equipment includes oxygen, end-tidal CO2, and vents in the Cath Lab; vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen in the ICU,
• All staff monitor and read telemetry strips intra-procedurally, pre/post, and in the Stress Lab; ICU nurses monitor their own patients and confirm strips every 4 hours,
• Elective cases are scheduled Monday-Friday, 0800-1600; call coverage is required 24/7,
• 8-hour day shifts,
• EMR: Epic,
• Self-scheduling is available,

Job Requirements

• Active KS RN license or Compact (NLC) license currently in hand - pending licenses are not accepted,
• Active certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NIHSS, TNCC, and RCIS (via CCI); CRRT competency also required,
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience required,
• Minimum 1 year of nursing management experience required,
• Minimum 1 year of clinical leadership experience required,
• Critical care and/or telemetry experience required,
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility - a valid driver's license is required to verify permanent address,
• Driver's license must be provided for consideration,
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire,

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include overseeing both Cath Lab and ICU operations, supporting pre/post procedure care, bedside procedure support, moderate sedation, and nursing competency development,
• Focus on building and enhancing department culture as a clinical leader,
• Charge nurse is preferred not to take a patient assignment; all staff except charge nurse are required to float to help other departments,
• On-call coverage required for weekends and holidays,
• Orientation is approximately 12 hours; clinicians must be on-site for the orientation week even if initial modules are completed remotely,
• Hospital-laundered scrubs provided,
• Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered,
