Support an 8th grade student with mobility needs in a dynamic school environment as a dedicated Paraprofessional. This full-time contract opportunity near Long Beach provides the chance to make a meaningful impact on a student’s daily life, fostering independence and access to education. You’ll assist a student with a broken leg, ensuring safe and comfortable movement around campus and offering support with essential daily tasks.

Desired Experience and Skills:

• Prior experience as a paraprofessional, particularly within school settings
• Compassion and patience working with middle school students
• Ability to assist with mobility, especially maneuvering a wheelchair
• Comfort providing toileting support in a respectful and discreet manner
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with educators and staff
• Must be fully onboarded before starting the assignment
• Reliability and commitment to supporting the student throughout the school day

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide mobility and personal care assistance to the assigned student, including safe wheelchair navigation
• Support the student with toileting needs discreetly and professionally
• Assist with transitions between classes and activities, ensuring the student remains engaged and included
• Monitor for physical or emotional distress and report concerns to appropriate staff
• Foster a supportive, encouraging relationship to enhance the student’s sense of belonging and confidence
• Maintain detailed records as required and participate in team meetings
