Pastry Assistant

Deborah Miller Catering & Events is looking for a full-time Pastry Assistant. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of prior pastry experience or a culinary degree with focus on pastry. Deborah Miller Catering & Events is a unique departure from restaurant work, and cooks with previous restaurant experience are welcomed to apply! Our facility features a scratch kitchen and dedicated pastry room. We boast a diverse seasonal menu with a blend of purchased and in-house created items. Engage all employees in a meaningful way following the company motto: Rooted in the RADISH - Relationships, Appetite, Detail, Innovation, Service, and Honesty Uphold and maintain a positive, professional work environment for all staff and peers An ideal candidate for this position: Is willing and able to get to lower Manhattan as early as 5am, though shifts typically begin at 7am Has weekend and some evening availability Has some previous experience ordering for or managing their own station, including awareness of mise en place, temperature and waste log management, proper food storage, and food safety standards Has their NYC food handler's certification Has experience working in, or a strong desire to learn the systems of, a catering kitchen This position would be part-to-full time but has the potential to grow into a full-time lead position.
