Core Responsibilities Management Responsibilities: Directly manages three or more employees in the Accounting Department Job Costing & WIP Accounting: Accurately allocate labor, materials, equipment, and indirect costs by job, phase, and cost code to produce reliable Work-In-Progress (WIP) reports. Budgeting & Forecasting: Collaborate with project managers and estimators to develop project budgets, monitor cost variances, and manage rolling financial forecasts. Financial Reporting: Prepare month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow) for senior executives and ownership. Contract & Risk Management: Review vendor and subcontractor contracts, track retainage, verify lien waivers, and support certified payroll compliance. Cash Flow & Treasury Management: Monitor daily cash receipts and disbursements, forecast cash needs, and ensure adequate working capital. Internal Controls: Implement and maintain robust financial controls to prevent errors, optimize billing (including AIA Billings), and streamline accounts payable/receivable. Audit & Tax Preparation: Coordinate annual financial audits and work with external CPAs for corporate tax filings. Qualifications & Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or MBA is highly desirable. Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2–3 years in a financial leadership role specifically within the construction or real estate industry. Software Expertise: Proficiency in Timberline (Sage) or construction-specific ERPs and accounting platforms. Advanced MS Excel skills are essential.
