Position Summary Post is Visiting Instructor or Visiting Assistant Professor of Environmental Science and Environmental Analysis, one year non-tenure track at Pomona College. Full-time with a teaching load of five courses in the academic year. Responsibilities Teach and develop courses: Introduction to Environmental Analysis, Environmental Science – "Sciences that Resist the Eurocene" (project-based, interdisciplinary), and a GIS-focused course offered in collaboration with the EA Program and the Claremont Colleges community. Mentor and support undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds, employing inclusive pedagogical practices that promote academic equity. Prepare for classes and attend the New Faculty Orientation during the weeks before instruction begins on August 31 2026 for the fall semester and January 19 2027 for the spring semester. Perform any marginal functions as required. Qualifications Education – Required: Doctorate (completed or in progress) in biology, ecology, environmental science, or closely related field to be completed by July 1 2026; ABD welcome. Teaching experience – Preferred: Prior teaching experience, enthusiasm for working with a diverse undergraduate population, and a commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment. Employment Details Duration: July 1 2026 to June 30 2027. Salary is commensurate with rank and teaching experience. Position does not require student advising, faculty service, or participation in faculty governance. Employment contingent upon proof of legal right to work in the United States.
