Job Summary
The Janitor is responsible for the daily cleanliness, sanitation, and upkeep of the Mercantile Building and associated Knochenmus Enterprises and Ralco properties. The role performs cleaning, disinfecting, light maintenance, snow removal, and event janitorial support on established daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly schedules, delivering a safe and well-presented environment for employees, tenants, and guests.

Key Responsibilities
Daily and Weekly Cleaning

• Clean, sanitize, and disinfect restrooms.
• Clean and disinfect break rooms.
• Empty trash, shredding, and recycling; vacuum carpets, dust surfaces, and spot clean doors, walls, and glass walls/windows.
• Operate the floor scrubber and mop where floor scrubber is not available for use.

Periodic and Deep Cleaning

• Perform monthly high dusting (borders, partitions, lights, vents, air returns) and scheduled deep cleaning of carpets, walls, partitions, and floor drains.
• Wash and squeegee inside glass and deep clean grouted tile on the scheduled rotation.

Event Support, Exterior, and Other Properties

• Refresh and perform post-event deep cleaning of Upper Room and public bathrooms; clean ballroom windows and sills weekly; assist with event setup and teardown and repair damaged event chairs and tables.
• Shovel snow at entry doors and walkways and perform exterior landscaping cleanup as needed.
• Service other properties weekly, including cleaning breakrooms, restrooms, empty trash, and other duties as needed.

Safety, Equipment, and Teamwork

• Operate floor scrubbers, vacuums, and cleaning equipment safely; use chemicals per label and SDS guidance.
• Perform minor repairs on equipment, fixtures, and furniture; maintain supply inventory and order in coordination with the supervisor.
• Notify the supervisor of unsafe conditions or needed repairs; work effectively independently and on the team; develop a professional development plan with the supervisor; perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Experience:  1 to 3 years of janitorial, custodial, or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
• Technical:  Comfortable operating floor scrubbers, vacuums, and hand tools. Basic math; proficient in reading and speaking English.
• Travel:  Local travel within the Marshall, Lynd, and Balaton area. Valid driver’s license required.
• Location: Based in the Mercantile building in Marshall, MN

Education:  Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
