About the Role

We are hiring an experienced Shipping & Receiving Clerk to coordinate daily shipping and receiving activities in a busy manufacturing and warehouse environment. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate shipping documentation, coordinating carrier schedules, managing dock activity, processing warehouse system transactions, and ensuring materials are shipped and received accurately and on time.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with computers and warehouse systems, and able to communicate effectively with customers, carriers, drivers, forklift operators, and internal operations teams.

This is a hands-on coordination role where accuracy and communication are critical to keeping daily warehouse and shipping operations running smoothly.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily shipping and receiving activities and priorities
• Prepare and maintain Bills of Lading (BOLs), packing lists, shipment records, and receiving documentation
• Enter and maintain accurate transactions in warehouse or inventory systems, including receipts, shipments, inventory movements, and confirmations
• Verify part numbers, quantities, labels, customer information, trailer numbers, and shipment destinations before releasing shipments
• Maintain the daily shipping and receiving schedule
• Coordinate carrier appointments, pickup and delivery times, and dock assignments
• Communicate with customers, carriers, drivers, and internal teams regarding shipment status, changes, and requirements
• Provide clear daily direction to forklift operators regarding:
  • Material to be loaded or unloaded
  • Trailer or truck assignments
  • Dock-door assignments
  • Loading and unloading priorities
  • Customer-specific requirements
• Monitor loading activities to prevent incorrect material, quantities, trailers, or destinations
• Ensure outbound shipments are accurate and complete before trucks are released
• Coordinate incoming materials to ensure they are properly received, identified, staged, and communicated to the appropriate team
• Communicate with customer sites regarding shipment schedules, delivery requirements, shortages, changes, and urgent requests
• Respond quickly to expedited shipments and changing customer requirements
• Maintain accurate records of truck arrivals, departures, dock activity, and completed shipments
• Investigate shipping, receiving, inventory, and system discrepancies
• Escalate missed shipments, shortages, damages, incorrect materials, and transportation issues promptly
• Work with warehouse leadership to ensure appropriate forklift coverage and manpower based on the daily schedule
• Maintain an organized and professional shipping and receiving office
• Follow all safety, quality, customer, and warehouse procedures

Qualifications

• Previous shipping, receiving, logistics, warehouse, or manufacturing experience
• Experience with shipping and receiving documentation, including BOLs and packing lists
• Experience using a warehouse management system (WMS), ERP, or inventory system
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to prioritize multiple shipments and changing schedules
• Strong communication skills with customers, carriers, drivers, and warehouse personnel
• Ability to give clear direction to forklift operators and coordinate dock activity
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn new systems
• Ability to identify and resolve shipping, receiving, and inventory discrepancies
• Previous forklift or warehouse equipment experience is a plus
• High school diploma or GED preferred
