The WBG People Vice Presidency is responsible for getting the right public and private sector solutions to our operational teams and to our clients, and to produce scalable impact. Its mandate is to deliver knowledge for impact to enable and support the WBG to achieve its goals in support of our mission and specifically: providing guidance on creating more and better jobs; supporting foundational infrastructure and human capital, policy environment, and private sector mobilization; focusing on agribusiness, healthcare, infrastructure, manufacturing, and tourism; and support and accelerate specific targets such as M300, Health 1.5bn, and SP 500. The VPU's objectives in driving outcomes include replicating and scaling effective solutions, enhancing thought leadership and innovation, and delivering timely knowledge to client teams.

The World Bank Group (WBG) supports countries' efforts towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and to provide quality, affordable health services to everyone —regardless of their ability to pay — by strengthening primary health care systems and reducing the financial risks associated with ill health and increasing equity. The Health Global Practice (former Health Nutrition and Population, HNP GP) delivers financing, analytics, and policy advice to help countries advance universal health coverage by strengthening primary care, public health, and financial protection – anchored in corporate priorities such as reaching 1.5 billion people with essential health services by 2030 and strengthening social protection systems to reach at least 500 million people, half of them women and girls. Its teams provide upstream guidance on legal, regulatory, and institutional reforms—such as benefit package design, purchasing and provider payment, quality standards, workforce policies, and digital health governance—to enable effective, equitable service delivery and mobilize private sector solutions aligned with WBG goals.

The World Bank Group's Knowledge Bank agenda positions knowledge as a core development asset designed to be reused, adapted, and scaled across countries and contexts. It emphasizes systematically capturing what works, why it works, and how it can be applied elsewhere, so that proven solutions can move beyond one‑off insights and inform action at scale. This approach is supported by stronger collaboration across units and the effective use of digital and AI‑enabled tools to strengthen institutional learning and development impact.

The Health Learning and Knowledge Program (LAKP) is evolving in line with the Knowledge Bank approach, with a focus on turning technical and operational experience into usable insights, improving how knowledge flows and is reused across the Practice, and strengthening collaboration, learning, and the use of AI to support this work. As part of this shift, LAKP is improving how knowledge is curated, communicated, and shared to better support teams and client engagement. Priority areas include clarifying what knowledge matters most and how it should be generated and shared; integrating AI into everyday work to support learning and better decision‑making; ensuring knowledge is more actionable and implementable at the client level; and fostering ways of working that encourage consistent and effective use of knowledge across the Practice.

The Extended Term Consultant (ETC) will work closely with the LAKP and Global Program teams to support these priorities and help put the knowledge strategy into practice. The ETC will work under the guidance of the task team leaders of LAKP and is expected to play a bridging role across knowledge management and communications, helping ensure that internal efforts are aligned, coherent, and effective at scale.

Key responsibilities:

• Making Knowledge Actionable
• Facilitate the transformation of technical and analytical outputs into clear, accessible, and actionable knowledge products for internal staff and, where appropriate, external audiences.
• Package knowledge into practical formats (e.g., briefs, syntheses, visual summaries, toolkits, and targeted multimedia assets) that support operations, learning, and decision making.
• Apply light touch curation, quality standards, and usability principles to improve the findability, coherence, and reuse of health knowledge resources, including contributions to the quality and consistency of Knowledge 360.
• Coordinate publication related support across teams in collaboration with relevant focal points, ensuring fit for purpose dissemination and alignment with agreed priorities.
• Knowledge Flow and Channel Optimization
• Strengthen end to end knowledge flows across multiple channels, including internal platforms, email communications, events, and digital collaboration spaces.
• Improve the coherence, sequencing, and targeting of knowledge dissemination to reduce fragmentation and duplication.
• Facilitate the continuous improvement of SharePoint based and other internal knowledge spaces, with a strong focus on user experience, integration across tools, and sustainability.
• Internal Communications and Knowledge Engagement
• Advance the implementation of knowledge focused internal communications plans, in close alignment with health priorities.
• Coordinate the design, facilitation, and stewardship of unit wide engagement spaces (e.g., Viva Engage and similar forums) that promote knowledge exchange, peer learning, and collaboration.
• Manage Monthly Updates and other recurring internal communications products, ensuring clarity, relevance, and alignment with health priorities.
• Facilitate and support internal knowledge sharing events, clinics, communities of practice, and related engagement activities.
• Serve as a key connecting point between the LAKP team and the Front Office to ensure consistent, timely, and strategically aligned internal communications.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including vendors and service providers, to support delivery of knowledge and communications activities.
• Storytelling and Multimedia Content
• Strengthen internal storytelling by translating technical work, operational experience, and lessons learned into compelling and concise narratives.
• Coordinate and, where appropriate, produce multimedia content (e.g., short videos, podcasts, visuals, interactive formats) that highlight learning, innovation, and impact.
• Ensure that curated stories and multimedia outputs are systematically integrated into Knowledge 360 and other internal knowledge channels.
• AI Readiness Support for Knowledge Management
• Support the advancement of AI readiness for knowledge work, with a focus on practical, value adding applications for knowledge management.
• Facilitate internal awareness raising, learning activities, and light guidance related to the responsible and effective use of AI enabled tools for knowledge discovery, synthesis, and reuse.
• Coordination and Quality Assurance
• Help coordinate multiple knowledge management and communications workstreams, ensuring timely delivery, coherence across activities, and consistent quality standards.
• Track progress across assigned activities and contribute to the continuous improvement of knowledge management and communications practices.

Selection Criteria

• Advanced degree in communications, knowledge management, international development, public policy, or a related field.

• A minimum of eight years of progressively responsible professional experience in knowledge management, communications, learning, or related areas.

• Experience working with global knowledge and learning programs is highly desirable.

• Background in global health, with familiarity with the World Bank Group's health priorities and targets, is a strong asset.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to distill complex technical content into clear, concise, and actionable messages.

• Strong organizational and coordination skills, with experience managing multiple priorities, stakeholders, and delivery timelines.

• Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively across technical, operational, and communications teams, including engagement with senior staff.

• Demonstrated experience managing or contributing to internal knowledge platforms, SharePoint sites, or enterprise collaboration tools.

• Proven ability to coordinate and/or produce multimedia content (e.g., videos, podcasts, visuals) in support of knowledge and learning objectives.

• Solid familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools and digital collaboration environments.

• Practical understanding of AI enabled tools for content creation, synthesis, and knowledge work; ability to apply these tools responsibly is an advantage.
