Certified District BTS Arts Integration Coach - Music. Full-time position for the 2026/2027 school year. Professional Educator License in Elementary, and/or Secondary Education w/Music Endorsement required. Additional endorsement/courses may be required by the Beverly Taylor Sorenson Arts Learning Program (within a designated time frame). This position requires a solid understanding of arts integration, strong visual arts skills, and a willingness to work with adult learners. All BTSArts Integration Coaches provide quality professional development for elementary teachers in the context of their environment (during the school day, with the teacher's students, using current content), create digital resources for classroom use, and provide singular integration coaching cycles. Experience working with both adult learners and elementary students using visual arts integration is preferred. Qualified candidates will have a general understanding of the Utah State Elementary Visual Arts Core Curriculum, experience designing integrated lessons, the ability to work side-by-side with teachers, and a willingness to be a contributing member of the District BTSArts Integration Team. BTSArts Integration Coaches are district-level and will be assigned residencies in multiple schools during the course of the school year.
The job of the BTS Arts Integration Coach is to support the mission of providing ongoing, job-embedded professional development for elementary teachers in the Utah State Fine Arts Standards and in collaborative methods of arts integration for classroom application. Through this work, the coach helps build teacher capacity and confidence in using the arts as an effective instructional strategy to improve student learning across the curriculum. Aligned with the team vision of empowering educators to create and sustain arts-rich elementary classrooms and school communities, the Beverley Taylor Sorenson Arts Learning Program (BTSALP) provides high-quality arts-integrated instruction that increases student engagement and performance in all subject areas, including language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science. This position is distinguished by its emphasis on collaboration, coaching, and instructional partnership with elementary classroom teachers. BTS Arts Integration Coaches work alongside teachers to design, model, and support the implementation of arts-integrated lessons that connect dance, drama, music, and visual art with core academic standards. Purpose Statement The job of Certified Arts Coach is done for the purpose/s of coordinating and guiding various activities of the respective program under the guidance of the District Arts Specialist; guiding Elementary teachers in the development of Fine Arts program objectives; Coordinating, modeling, and directing Fine Arts programs in their assigned elementary schools. - Coordinates a variety of school year and summer program activities (e.g. competitions, field trips, fundraising events, performances, copyright licensure, etc.) for the purpose of implementing scheduled activities and/or ensuring compliance with legal and administrative requirements.
- Guides student artists in the development of program objectives (e.g. concerts, competitions, hosted events, etc.) for the purpose of identifying specific program activities and tasks required to be implemented throughout the year.
- Identifies program needs for the purpose of providing recommendations of expenditures for equipment and supplies that will enhance the assigned student activity.
- Instructs elementary school teachers for the purpose of developing their skills and artistic abilities and enabling students to participate both individually and as a unit.
- Maintains a variety of records (e.g. record of activities, signed permission forms, emergency information, schedules of competition, etc.) for the purpose of complying with program and District requirements.
- Participates in meetings of the program for the purpose of providing guidance to participants, oversight of group activities and ensuring program objectives are achieved.
- Promotes program (e.g. club fairs, announcements, flyers, etc.) for the purpose of increasing interest and participation in areas of performing art.
- Supervises student artists at a variety of activities (e.g. competitions, performances, travel/accommodations, meetings, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring students' conduct conforms with the program's objectives and District conduct policies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks using existing skills. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; and organizing and communicating information and concepts.
- KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: community support organizations and public relations; equipment used in activity/program; and relevant professional standards and practices.
- ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather and/or collate data; and use job-related equipment Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate.
